Improving Link Reliability through Network Coding in Cooperative Cellular Networks
The paper proposes a XOR-based network coded cooperation protocol for the uplink transmission of relay assisted cellular networks and an algorithm for selection and assignment of the relay nodes. The performances of the cooperation protocol are expressed in terms of network decoder outage probability and Block Error Rate of the cooperating users. These performance indicators are analyzed theoretically and by computer simulations. The relay nodes assignment is based on the optimization, according to several criteria, of the graph that describes the cooperation cluster formed after an initial selection of the relay nodes. The graph optimization is performed using Genetic Algorithms adapted to the topology of the cooperation cluster and the optimization criteria considered
Cross section measurement of the astrophysically important 17O(p,gamma)18F reaction in a wide energy range
The 17O(p,g)18F reaction plays an important role in hydrogen burning
processes in different stages of stellar evolution. The rate of this reaction
must therefore be known with high accuracy in order to provide the necessary
input for astrophysical models.
The cross section of 17O(p,g)18F is characterized by a complicated resonance
structure at low energies. Experimental data, however, is scarce in a wide
energy range which increases the uncertainty of the low energy extrapolations.
The purpose of the present work is therefore to provide consistent and precise
cross section values in a wide energy range.
The cross section is measured using the activation method which provides
directly the total cross section. With this technique some typical systematic
uncertainties encountered in in-beam gamma-spectroscopy experiments can be
avoided.
The cross section was measured between 500 keV and 1.8 MeV proton energies
with a total uncertainty of typically 10%. The results are compared with
earlier measurements and it is found that the gross features of the 17O(p,g)18F
excitation function is relatively well reproduced by the present data.
Deviation of roughly a factor of 1.5 is found in the case of the total cross
section when compared with the only one high energy dataset. At the lowest
measured energy our result is in agreement with two recent datasets within one
standard deviation and deviates by roughly two standard deviations from a third
one. An R-matrix analysis of the present and previous data strengthen the
reliability of the extrapolated zero energy astrophysical S-factor.
Using an independent experimental technique, the literature cross section
data of 17O(p,g)18F is confirmed in the energy region of the resonances while
lower direct capture cross section is recommended at higher energies. The

Integrated Process to Obtain Anthocyanin Enriched Palm-Fat Particles from Elderberry Juice
Two novel technologies were applied in order to investigate concentration and formulation of anthocyanins for potential use in food industry. Integrated membrane process technology was applied for concentrating elderberry juice. In the first step, the juice was clarified by microfiltration, followed by a pre-concentration step with reverse osmosis. Finally, the juice was concentrated to the end concentration of 56 °Brix by osmotic distillation. The elderberry juice concentrate was formulated in a powderous form by a high-pressure process — Particles from Gas Saturated Solution (PGSS™) — using supercritical CO2. The applied carrier material was palm fat. The products with different anthocyanin-carrier ratios were measured for their colour properties (lightness, hue angle, and saturation). Colour stability was monitored for prolonged storage at different conditions (light/dark and ambient temperature/ refrigerator). The obtained powderous anthocyanin-palm fat products showed good colour stability, which gives good bases for potential applications in the future
Persistence with statin therapy in Hungary
Introduction: Persistence with lipid-lowering drug therapy by cardiovascular patients in Hungary has not been studied previously. This study was designed to determine the rate with which Hungarian patients with hyperlipidemia persist in taking lipid-lowering agents, and to compare this with rates reported from other countries.
Material and methods: This was a retrospective study that utilized data from the Institutional Database of the National Health Insurance Fund to analyze persistence rates with statins and ezetimibe. The study included data for patients who started lipid-lowering therapy between January 1, 2007, and March 31, 2009. Variables included type of lipid-lowering therapy, year of therapy start, and patient age. Main outcome measures were medians of persistence in months, percentages of patients persisting in therapy for 6 and 12 months, and Kaplan-Meier persistence plots.
Results: The percentage of patients who persisted with overall statin therapy was 46% after 1 month, 40.3% after 2 months, 27% after 6 months, and 20.1% after 12 months. Persistence was slightly greater for statin therapy started during 2008 than during 2007. Older patients were more persistent with therapy than younger patients. Persistence with the combination of ezetimibe-statin therapy was greater than with statin or ezetimibe monotherapy.
Conclusions: Persistence with statin therapy by patients in Hungary was low compared with other countries. Low persistence may have negated potential clinical benefits of long-term statin therapy
Determining the 7Li(n,gamma) cross section via Coulomb dissociation of 8Li
The applicability of Coulomb dissociation reactions to determine the cross
section for the inverse neutron capture reaction was explored using the
reaction 8Li(gamma,n)7Li. A 69.5 MeV/nucleon 8Li beam was incident on a Pb
target, and the outgoing neutron and 7Li nucleus were measured in coincidence.
The deduced (n,gamma) excitation function is consistent with data for the
direct capture reaction 7Li(n,gamma)8Li and with low-energy effective field

Proton capture cross section of Sr isotopes and their importance for nucleosynthesis of proton-rich nuclides
The (p,) cross sections of three stable Sr isotopes have been
measured in the astrophysically relevant energy range. These reactions are
important for the -process in stellar nucleosynthesis and, in addition, the
reaction cross sections in the mass region up to 100 are also of importance
concerning the -process associated with explosive hydrogen and helium
burning. It is speculated that this -process could be responsible for a
certain amount of -nuclei in this mass region. The (p,) cross
sections of Sr isotopes were determined using an activation
technique. The measurements were carried out at the 5 MV Van de Graaff
accelerator of the ATOMKI, Debrecen. The resulting cross sections are compared
with the predictions of statistical model calculations. The predictions are in
good agreement with the experimental results for Sr(p,)Y
whereas the other two reactions exhibit differences that increase with mass

A new method for the quantitative determination of protein of bacterial origin on the basis of D-aspartic acid and D-glutamic acid content
In the past years several methods have been developed for the determination of the proportion of the nitrogen-containing substances of microbial origin passed from the rumen into the abomasum or the small intestine. Recently, on examining the D-amino acid content of foodstuffs, particularly milk and milk products, it has been observed that, in addition to D-Ala, D- glutamic acid (D-Glu) and D-aspartic acid (D-Asp) can also be detected in similar quantities, primarily in products which have links with bacterial activity. This gave rise to the idea of examining the diaminopimelic acid (DAPA), D-Glu and D-Asp content of bacteria extracted from the rumen of cattle and that of chyme from the same cattle, in order to determine the type of relation existing among these three components, and to establish whether D-Asp and D-Glu can be used in the estimation of protein of bacterial origin. On determination of the DAPA, D-Asp and D-Glu content by means of amino acid analyser and high performance liquid chromatography of duodenal chyme from five growing bulls and of ruminal bacteria from the same bulls, the following values were established. For chyme (and, in brackets, for ruminal bacteria) r value calculated by means of linear regression was 0.78 (0.76) between DAPA and D-Asp, and 0.70 (0.81) between DAPA and D-Glu. The r values between the crude protein content of ruminal bacteria and the markers examined were found to be the following: DAPA, 0.74; D-Asp, 0.73; D- Glu, 0.61. In the model experiment performed for the re-obtaining of values for protein of bacterial origin the theoretical values were determined on the basis of D-Asp and D-Glu and values approximately 10% higher than the theoretical value on the basis of DAPA. It is therefore recommended that in addition to DAPA these other two amino acids be included among the bacterial protein markers
